WHY LLAMAS???
Because they're unique

wllamaprint.gif (440 bytes)

A little like a cat, aloof and self-determining,
often heard humming and murmuring.
A little like a dog, willing to please,
but never to be teased.
A little like a horse and easy to train,
I've heard it's because of their incredibly large brain.
A little like a goat, too clever for their own good,
but be underestimated, they never should.
Thankfully nothing like sheep,
who are too stupid to put their dung in a heap .
You could never call it dull,
while learning to get into their skull.
There is so much to learn,
if we wish their respect to earn.
Too unique to describe,
with their very thick hide and sensitivity to touch
(which can sometimes be too much).

Why Llamas???

Because one is never enough.

Llamas should really be sold with warning labels - "Beware, llamas can be addictive!" When I bought my first llama I didn't know that you really need two. There had been some grumbling about the first one, so it was a fortuitous excuse to get another. Then if you only have one female you will only get one cria at a time and an only child can be a lonely child. So you need at least two females so that you can raise and sell pairs of cria. But of course you can't sell your first born because they're like part of the family. Then you can't sell that really cute boy because he's everyone's favourite and that other little girl would have wonderful babies mated with so'n'so. Next thing you know, you find yourself looking over the fence; coveting your friends, searching the Internet, looking, dreaming of the elusive perfect llama that you are going to breed. The only cure for Llama addiction I can suggest is Camelids Anonymous-where a sympathetic llama owner can offer support or a really beautiful cria that was born last week!
